Before tightening the nuts against the threaded bosses, the distance over the frame should be checked with a set of callipers to ensure that it is exactly the same in each case.
Shouldered bolts are used to secure the 8-hole wheel disc to the threaded bosses as they will align the disc with little need to make further adjustments.
The target spacing of the bevels is for them to just miss the 4-hole collar at the centre of the unit, when the gears are spaced from the end plates of the diff. by at least one Elektrikit washer. At the drive end, I found that two was the minimum I could get away with and still have room for the drive bevel of be clear of the pivot bolts used in the spider.
