1927 #5 outfit unused, bottom tray
The strips and girders are tied together with green cord, although the flat girders are 'loose'. The tying is done via a 'figure of eight' with the cord passing through the hole twice. It is tied off with a reef knot. The angle brackets are wired together and the worm is also wired to the card. The packets are wrapped in mottled green/brown paper, like grease-proof paper and a rhombus shaped green Meccano label is attached with a picture of a boy sitting on a wall (why?). The cuboid shaped packets all contain double angle strips. In most cases these seem to be used to form a framework for the packet and then other parts, such as cranks and double bent strips are slipped inside as well. The more rounded small packet contains the chain and the other packets contain rods.
