The #53 flanged plate must be pushed to the outermost position, so that there is enough place for the worm gear to rotate without friction (blue arrow).

Besides reducing friction, spacing the #53 Flanged Plate to the limit of its elongated holes, also reduces scoring to its paint finish by the rotating Worm gear.
