1951 Leyland Tiger Ps2/3 C 35 F (NSF) - David Lacy
BODYWORK -- HARRINGTON ”DORSAL FIN"
The prototype for this model is uniquely representative of the pinnacle of "half cab" single deck bus and coach design in the 1950's.
Introduction of the underfloor engined chassis at this time, (Midland Red had already achieved this prior to 1939), resulted in the half cab bus and coach design obsolete. Fortunately, coach operators continued to use these attractive coaches and many have been preserved for our benefit and pleasure.
This model is based on HVJ 583, new in 1951 and one of 5 similar styled coaches
in the erstwhile independent coach company, Wye Valley Motors of Hereford, which
operated to the south of the river Wye.The Company ceased trading in 1974 on
the death of it’s owner "BilI" Morgan but all the remaining buses and coaches were
absorbed into the fleet of Yeoman’s Motors, a similar company which operated on
the northern side of the Wye.
