34 Spanner lightly blackened Meccano c1989
34 Spanner lightly blackened Meccano, The thin blackening has a shine that at certain angles produces colours like the surface of an oily puddle. Square nuts, ΒΌ" a/f, cranked, light Meccano stamp, top, flat angled end, 73 mm long, 5.52 mm across at crank, 1.54mm thick Oscar Felgueiras only lists these as black, but there are 3 identifiable phases of modern black 34s, this version seems to be fairly short lived. Found in the same charity box as the zinc spanner and some matt black [next in the group photo] Attributable, with thanks to Oscar's lists, to an incomplete Beginners set 4, 0304, 1989 [motor, wheels & gears limit it to fairly few sets, and other bits refine it to this one. This is also one of the first sets to switch back to square nuts
