The output French knitting emerging from the bottom of the knitting tower. The maximum rate of knitting is now a little over 30 m/h - that's over half a metre per minute!
The driving (VCR) motor can be seen at bottom left: its drive to the 1" knitting gears is via a 2" Pulley and 1/2" Pinion on an intermediate shaft to the 2 1/2" Gear on the lowermost 1" (latch-hook) Gear shaft. The intermediate shaft also holds one of the two gears of the 1:1 Bevel Gear drive to the overhead ring feed - it can just be seen slightly left of centre here.
