#5 Outfit from early/mid 1927 top tray
The parts here have been restrung to the original card which is identical to that in the unused #5 from November 1927 which appears next in the gallery. However there are several changes in the parts. The braced girders are open ended here by November the ends are closed. The sector plates have a single row of holes here later in the year they have three. The propeller blades are the early broad type here by the end of the year they are narrow. However, the part with the greatest number of changes must be the large flanged plate. At the start of the year it was light red with flanges only along the long sides. At the time of this outfit it is the same design but dark red. By November it has cutouts for the circular saw blade (announced in the MM of that month) and according to Charles's account elsewhere on the site by the very end of the year it has four flanges, making four versions in one year! See the next picture for more.
