1962-1969 Meccano 6 Model 09 Funicular railway m.jpg
A first test showed that, even with the angle brackets positioned outmost, they will jam on the rails. A later test with pulleys at the rear axle, showed that they will jump out were two strips or a strip and a double angle strip are overlaped -> the groove is too narrow! All my intended solutions failed (including a test with #22b small flanged wheels), and after consulting a fellow Meccanoman, we concluded that this model is almost impossible to be satisfactorily built within the content of the set. Therefore, I will try to modificate it using as much extra parts as I need. More photos will follow!

You have made an error. There should be an angle bracket on each side of the cabin and then a 3” screwed rod is attached to the round holes. The screwed rod bears against the rails. |

Although not yet completed, this model is already looking very good. Its lustrous red and green parts and mirror-finish bright rods contribute a sparkle to these informative step by step photographs. Many instructions manual models have minor (or major!) glitches which test our patience, but the typical Meccano boy's inbuilt resourcefulness and ingenuity always wins through in the end! |
