Meccano Locomotive WP 4 6 2 For G Gauge
This is a Meccano model of the workhorse locomotive, WP, of Indian Railways during the steam era, adapted for G gauge. This has been one of my most difficult locomotive projects. I am using six 3 inch meccano 19a spoked wheels, which unfortunately are not flanged, but are balanced by the front and rear erector flanged wheels. This has not been an easy task. The locomotive is powered by a meccano MO 6 volt motor, but I am using almost 12 volts. In the first half minute, the locomotive is running on an oval shaped metal track taking the current from it. In the next portion of the video I am using a circular plastic G gauge track and the locomotive is powered by batteries kept in the tender. Unfortunately the locomotive 19a driving wheels slip sometimes on the plastic track and hence the jerky motion. I was inspired by Mr. Arup Dasgupta, who constructed a scale model of this locomotive using meccano plastic wheels, but I wanted to use the 19a spoked wheels. He has written a great tutorial on this at http://www.nzmeccano.com/image-106537.
