Pontoon crane - stern
And in similar vein, the stern got a winch and a small derrick crane. To follow the manual model, there should also have been a life boat hanging from the davits, made up of two further bent U-section plates. The set came with two "W-section corrugated plates" which may well have been these parts some 60 years ago - so given they were already knackered, I thought I could live with the mutilation needed to get them into the shape called for in the model. However, they smoothed out fine in a plate roller and I couldn't bring myself to put the irrevocable kinks in called for by the plan. So either the lifeboat is actually a ship's boat and is off doing something, or corners have been cut and the crew will have to take their chances in the event of a disaster!
