Previously "Cordless" drill fixed!
The Electronics Waste Bin* (at work) usually contains one of these from time to time, as their battery packs go flat after a year or two. Rip out these, add a 6' long flexible speaker cord to a salvaged SLA battery, also for free from the IT guys who swap these in their UPS:es at intervals regardless of their status (the batteries' status - NOT the IT guys'!). 15 minutes later you've got yourself a Butch Spinster, that won't go flat when you need her the most, has torque enuff to twist your arm off, and won't get snatched on your job (or anywhere else)... Used her for some 1500 drywall screws in a day, she smelled of burnt windings enamel and was hot like hell, but she didn't croak. The length of the cable lets the battery sit on a tool kart offering ceiling reach with less weight and cumbersomeness than the original. Win-Win for free! //* My prime source for stuff. -"You shouldn't really throw usable stuff away - but if you DO throw something there - make sure it's Properly and Irreversibly Broken having fun whilst doing so." Used two of these mothers for making a kiddie pushbike "Elektrik": Ran it wide open at some 30 km/h, and got myself an "interesting skid" when the drills locked the rear on speed trigger release.
