Newcomen atmospheric engine 2016
This model was first shown at the SMG exhibition October 2016. It is also the subject of an article in the SMG Journal No 128, Feb 2017. The engine is of great historical importance, being a massive advance on any previous power source. Newcomen, after many years of development, managed to get this engine running in 1712. Installed at a coal mine which was about to close because of flooding, the engine pumped the mine dry in a few days.
