Octomecc - Richard Smith
This project was started after Skegex 2011. Henk Brouwer showed a Meccano Meccanisms display board from the late 1950s.
I thought there must be several ways of building this into a new model.
At the time I was also interested in building the fairground ride called the 'Octopus'.
A combination of the two was the ticket.
The model is truly a Study of Friction.
I have tried to incorporate as many different parts as practically possible.
Each arm of the Octomecc demonstrates the following:
ARM 1 - NMMG Mecc-anic waving to all
ARM 2 - Automatic forward-reverse drive unit
ARM 3 - Two Speed drive
ARM 4 - Crown Wheel & pinion differential
ARM 5 - NMMG Mecc-man with Jack Hammer
ARM 6 - Intermittent Drive
ARM 7 - Out-of-line Drive
ARM 8 - Pinion Differential
