For Comparison, a 57d wire hook from an early Triang era Play Set, Then an almost paint free example of a hook intermediate between the early hooks in OPM, short (29.1 mm) wire former but with the larger 11mm ball; this had interloped into a early-mid '50s set 3 with 1948 manual which is where the next 'normal' shape hook, with the longer 31.5 mm wire former and an 11.35 mm ball, comes from, both have traces of medium red paint. The next 2 are light red, from an 0A (slightly smaller 10.7mm ball) with a 1959 manual, and a set 3 with a red/white/green box new in 963. The loops migrate from a pear shape via 2 loops with a short straight at the end of the loop to a final example where the loop has a slightly crisper start and continues the curve to the end of the wire
