What a gem of a set!!
I have successfully used AUTOSOL to remove
corrosion/oxidation from some similarly affected
nickel parts.
I started using Autosol and a soft cloth, and then
on stubburn areas swapped to the green "Scotch Brite" pad and Autosol.
Micrometers and verniers such as Brown & Sharpe and Starret are delivered with an oil impregnated paper in an open-ended plastic/cellophane envelope to arrest oxidation.
oxidation during shipping and storage.
There's also a product here in Canada(North America)
called "Boeshield T-9" which help protect from corrosion.
