Again, we can clearly see the binding wires at each end of the strip / girder bundle. The lower packet came with two rods in situ and the rest loose in the box. Three of these rods were so badly rusted that I could not bring myself to leave them alone - so they have been rubbed down with very fine wire wool and WD40, before drying them off and carefully sliding them back into the paper. I'm guessing the 8" rods would have been in this bundle as well, however five rods is a bit loose and there was a risk of splitting the paper if I tried to insert the sixth rod, so I've left just five in there. Perhaps it has shrunk over time, as the wrapping on long strips and girders is absolutely taught and could easily split if mishandled.
