Hi James - you might be amused to know that Bert’s crane still exists. I am the current custodian. I’d be very interested if you had any other pictures of the crane or indeed still had the original prints? Some parts of the engine house are incomplete and I’d love to how it went together. Best wishes :-)

I took this photograph for the 'Sunday Times'.
Ian Jack, a very well known journalist, wrote the article, I transported the crane with Bert fussing all the time to a Studio in London where we had erected the large background canvas. Then I had to drive Bert and crane back to his house in Birmingham.
He only agreed to all of this only if Ian Jack and I accompanied him and of course the crane.
