1908-1925 Meccano 0-1 Model 119 Invalid chair 2 c.jpg

Addendum to the comment in the former photo: thanks to a comment from Michael Walker (see photo "a"), I realized that the front wheel is not supposed to be steered, but to turn around losely, like in the supermarket cars. Considering that the #37 bolt originally was longer (roughly 5/16" thread), then the bush wheel has just the function of a collar.

It is indeed a wise approach to begin with the smaller, less complex models, as building strategies used in those are often re-used in the larger constructions. Many years of fascinating model making lie ahead, as you continue your journey of discovery.

Hi, Michael!

Seems that you can read my mind: you exactly describe what I was searching for, when I decided to step outside from my comfort zone (1962-1969 models with exploded views). The bigger the sets are, the more complex things geht, just take a look at the historic instrucions leafltes from the nickel era! Thats the reason why I made a humble start at the very roots.

Details such as this show that even very early, simple models can be intriguing subjects for research. It must be very satisfying to be able to build the model correctly, despite the lack of instructions guidance.
