Recently, Alan Esplen and I decided to build this Block Setter at the same time – one in Maldon, Essex and one in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.

This crane was featured as ‘Model of the Month’ in the MM for November 1960. The illustrations were shown in the MM, but for further building instructions it was necessary to write to Binns Road for the typewritten notes, not forgetting the 2d stamp for return postage!

From the outset we encountered problems, some of which were so severe as to cause both of us to almost give up the struggle!
