Vintage lorry truck with loading crane (Extra photo) - Steve Butterworth
The vehicle has castor type steering and magic motor power. There is nothing magical about the motor but I wanted to keep it traditional looking, it will power the model on the flat but it doesn’t take much to stop it.
The crane slews, luffs and hoists by hand. I used the couplings and axle rods to give friction hold on the luffing.
The use of prewar pulleys gives extra set screws for use as fixings that were replaced by unused grub screws from other items. I may have exceeded the nut count by using some lock nuts but I could cut back on these if I really had to.
I used most of the available parts except for the rubber rings. One extra 1/2” pulley was used in the drive mechanism as allowed.
Loaded sacks are used as props in keeping with Meccano manual models of old
