These plugs and sockets are what Meccano used and are still available in hobby shops that sell model trains.
They call them Brawa plugs.
You can use them to connect to those geared motors from eBay by folding the motor's lug slightly so it fits inside the socket.
Good solution if you don't have a soldering iron.
The Brawa plugs and sockets are sold by Amazon Germany at very good prices. Look for "stecker" (plug) and "muffen" (socket).
