Märklin Metallbaukasten Locomotive E60 pulling Two goods wagons modified for G Gauge Spur 1

This is the two and a half feet (75 cm.) long Märklin Metallbaukasten Locomotive E60 also known as BR 160, one of the themed sets offered by Märklin which I have modified to run on G gauge track or spur 1, with two goods wagons added. I am once again very grateful to Georg Eiermann for sending me the plans for the construction of this (and many other) models. The original model is supposed to be run only on a straight length of track made from Märklin angle girders. Modifying for G gauge was a very challenging task, as the two and a half foot long locomotive is very heavy and would be very unstable and fall off the tracks. The narrow curves of my track meant I had to reduce the length of the wheelbase and running it with side link rods was problematic. I have modified the 10395 wheels by adding a meccano 146a 4 inches circular disc to make a flanged wheel. The wheels used on the two wagons in these are the 10365 combined with a split meccano 19b 3inch pulley The G gauge track is two rail, so the wheels have to be insulated from each other. I have done this by adding a meccano plastic gear wheel to the 10395 and 146a circular disc. I have also used a Märklin 1022 motor suitably geared down.
