Motorised Milk Float - Les Pook
The model is a motorised version of the Set 2 manual milk float, incorporating a modern Meccano electric motor.
The wheel base is extended, and the floor raised by one hole, to accommodate the battery box in the correct position under the floor.
The front wheels are driven by a driving band passing round the motor shaft and a one inch pulley on the axle.
The motor doubles as a seat for the driver. The cab is extended forward by one hole to accommodate a modern Meccano figure as a driver.
A pulley is used as the steering wheel to provide clearance for the driver's legs. The chassis went through several iterations before a reasonably satisfactory solution was found. Even so there isn't enough clearance for motor tyres, so rubber rings are used.
11 additional parts: 2 off 5 perforated strip 2 1/2", 2 off 6a perforated strip 1 1/2", 1 off 22 pulley 1" with boss, 1 off 22a pulley 1", 2 off 48a double angle strip 2 1/2" x 1/2", 2 off 126 trunnion, 1 off 190 flexible plate 5 1/2" x 2 1/2"
