Yes indeed - so in effect they chose to supply two pre-cut lengths of what may have been 58, rather than just supply 58 itself...!

Parts 55 and 55a "Transmission spirals" were spring-cord-like metal loops, made necessary by the shortage of rubber.

I hadn't appreciated there were parts outside the usual range noted in these manuals - e.g. 55 and 55a
