Differential with lock  

This is a differential with a locking mechanism. Half inch pinions on the half shafts mesh with similar gears above them which then mesh with the narrow 25t pinions. One is in permanent mesh on one side and the other only engages when the bowden cable is pulled. Thus, the half shafts are geared to each other which means the differential is locked.
