Heidelberg Platen Press
The Heidelberg Platen Press has been developed in 1907 in Germany. Production ceased in 1985, but official sales went on upon 2010. A first attempt to construct a Meccano equivalent of the HPP was done by Albert van Oorde between 2000 and 2005. Albert van Oorde was a co-owner of a printing company. The van Oorde model has been exhibited only once in Holland in 2006 as shortly after the exhibition Albert passed away at age 83. Because of this, the model was lost out of sight upon early 2017 when an aknowledge of the van Oorde family, Meindert Buis, rediscovered the model. Thanks to Meindert Buis the Meccano model of the HPP was borrowed to Wilbert Swinkels, who eventually made a Virtuel Mec model early march 2017 (version 1). After 3 years of prototyping Wilbert Swinkels succeeded in creating a working Meccano model of the HPP. Based on this model a new Virtual Mec version (version 2, april 2020) was created.
