34-IMG_5217 lower shafts guide girders.jpg
STOP PRESS (the frame is not finished quite) the first thing I noticed, with some relief, I have to say, was a pair of 4-hole girders bolted to the inner plates of the loom at the bottom (see picture 34). These are attached by their holes, so the heald shafts go through the slots and end up with wiggle room top and bottom, in effect. There is an earlier picture of the top where you will see flat girders offering their slotted holes to the axles of the shafts.
As it happens those flat girders are one hole out of place, an oversight in my case. I’ll move them to the correct place and update with a picture soon.
In the fullness of time they will have to be temporarily removed to drop the heald shafts in, so it’s academic. Back to the cam arrangement for the heald shafts.
