Meccano locomotive tender and wagon adapted for O gauge from No. 9 set manual
This is a Meccano locomotive with tender and a wagon adapted from a 1961 No. 9 manual to run on O gauge and only using parts that would have been available in that set. This was a very challenging demand as this set does not have enough 109 face plates and 137 wheel flanges for driving wheels. I improvised using its six two inch pulley wheels in combination with two 109 face plates and four 214 semi circular plates joined together as face plates. I used the postwar E20R electric motor and that created balance problems as it is very heavy. Adding the tender and wagon would also make the locomotive unstable on the track. The front and pony wheels of the locomotive are improvised from one inch pulley and bush wheel discs. The manual model is not intended to be run on any track and this was an additional challenge.
