Finished! Model 8.15 travelling gantry crane from 1964
I liked this one - an interesting build and one where all the mechanisms work well. A few deviations from plan - most obviously making more steps out of angle brackets and fishplates rather than string, but also using a trunnion to mount one end of the long axle that transfers the bridge traverse drive across the gantry, and altering the ratchet mechanism slightly. Criticisms - only that there were a lot of unused gears left in the set and would it have been possible to design a reduction drive for the hoist?
