Meccano Double Decker Tram from a No. 2 Set of 1949 for O gauge
I was inspired by Brian Willis non entry model of a double decker tram for the Christmas Challenge 2017. I was wondering if I could make a similar model only using parts from a number 2 set powered by a magic motor to run on O gauge track. First I thought this should be not that difficult, but practical problems crept up, like how to run the wheels, the no. 2 set has only four pulleys, which I had to use as driving wheels, how to keep the magic motor, so that its key shaft is accessible for the (small sized) key, etc. I was ultimately able to make it without using additional parts. I decided to use the boss of the one inch pulley to be driven by the rubber band from the motor. Also it is not easy to just use the one inch pulleys as they are not so stable on the track, but I was able to manage.

That's a good length of run for a Magic Motor - nice and stable, too. |
