NFGC MkII Surprises aren't over!
Ok - Come out all ye other Captain Hindsight (my critical colleagues already "kindly advised me" what wouldashouldacoulda been done! :) As if I hadn't learned already from "Providence, The Higher Power or what have you"... Just realized I got myself a minimalist Helical Gear Cutter... In case you haven't noticed from the pic: -The (back-to front paired) gears are in perfect mesh, but... the axles aren't entirely parallel. Dang! No big deal tho, as I've just gotta realign the tangent angle of the worm/ cutter ass'y (piece of cake with my zero-budget, homegrown, multi-purpose & infinetely adjustable bombproof frame) - and the gears below will be just fine in that they'll be meshing with a 3/4" face "# 27a" plastic 57 t 3/4" faced gear wheel-to-be, so that the slant will probably actually reduce the gear backlash. Hypothesis: -Will probably cut that gear with an equal but contrary angled set-up, as the misalignments then will cancel each other out, and actually improve tooth engagement! Making another trait outta pure necessity! :) //To quote Niels Bohr: -"Predictions are always difficult - especially about the Future." Much safer to do predictions about Yesterday from a comfy, distant Present - instead of putting up your own hide on the line. More to come from this Northern Horizon - adjustment, tweaking etc, before delivering NFGC MkII and series production!
